Speaking, Writing & Consultancy
Speaking

I am an experienced and well reviewed speaker and have presented at many conferences and other events, often representing the National Autistic Taskforce.
If you would like me to speak at a conference or event, please contact me with your request.
Recent appearances include the National Mental Capacity Forum's 2024 webinar on Fluctuating Capacity, and the Commissioner’s Conference 2024 at which I spoke both on the National Autistic Taskforce’s Independent Guide to Quality Care for Autistic People and also provided a workshop on Ordinary Residence for Commissioners.
Writing

I may have some limited availability to accept commissions to write learning briefings for SABs, opinion pieces, commentary or analysis in my fields of expertise. I am particularly skilled at writing for a range of audiences including practitioners, service providers, legal or academic readers. If you would like to commission me to write something, please contact me.
My book Social Work with Autistic People was published in 2020 by Jessica Kingsley Publishers.
My blog archive contains several years of articles, mostly legal commentary. I also have past articles in various publications such as Community Care and Network Autism [PDF].
Consultancy

On occasion, I undertake bespoke consultancy across my areas of expertise, providing tailored support, research and specialist knowledge for a range of purposes. I can apply my skills to working in a wide range of areas. This includes change management consultancy within the public sector aimed at service improvement and improved compliance with legal frameworks.
In 2015 I worked with St. Clement's School [PDF] which went on to made "outstanding progress" that inspectors noted was in part due to staff benefitting from "very effective external training and consultancy on autism."
My availability is limited, but please contact me to discuss your needs.
